Power curves for wind turbines

چکیده
The concept of a power curve is introduced, as well as the principles of the power conversion performed by a wind turbine. As an appropriate approach for the estimation of the annual power production of a wind turbine, the procedure to determine the power curve after the international standard IEC 61400 of the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) is discussed. As another approach is introduced a stochastic defi nition of a power curve which is based on high frequency measurement data and on the dynamic response of the wind turbine to wind fl uctuations. The latter approach should be seen as a completion to the IEC defi nition which provides further insight into the dynamic performance of a wind turbine and may be used as a monitoring tool for wind turbines.

Wind Turbine Power Curve Modeling Using Parametric Approach
Abstract: In recent years, due to the limitation of fossil fuels and the environmental Impact of using these fuels, focusing on renewable energy sources has increased significantly. In developed countries, using clean energy such as wind power has been considered as an alternative source. Monitoring the performance of wind turbines and controlling their output power quality is one of the import...

Permanent-Magnet Synchronous Generators (PMSGs) exhibit high efficiency and power density, and have already been employed in gearless wind turbines. In the gearless wind turbines, due to the removal of the gearbox, the cogging torque is an important issue. Therefore, in this paper, at first, design of a Permanent-Magnet Synchronous Generator for a 2MW gearless horizontal-axis wind turbine, acco...

In this research paper, a 10 minute period measured wind speed data at 10 m, 30 m, and 40 m heights are presented for one of the major provinces of Iran. Four stations in Khuzestan- Abadan, Hosseyneh, Mahshahr, and Shushtar- are analyzed to determine the potential of wind power generation in this province. From the primary evaluation and by determining mean wind speed and also the Weibull f...
متن کاملDevelopment of an Equivalent Wind Plant Power-Curve
Wind turbine manufacturers publish and certify power curves for their turbines. These turbine power curves are used for planning purposes and estimating total wind power production. When a wind plant consisting of many turbines connects to the utility grid and starts operation, the focus shifts to the entire plant’s performance. An equivalent wind plant power-curve becomes highly desirable and ...

متن کاملDynamic wind farm power simulation
Wind energy represents one of the least cost methods of electricity generation, produces no carbon emissions, and is highly scaleable. However, the intermittency of wind and the passive reaction of wind turbines means spinning and scheduled reserves are required to ensure grid security. It is vital for transmission network planning that temporally and spatially accurate models of wind power are...
